TransWorld University (TWU) is located in beautiful Yunlin County in west-central Taiwan. It is near Sun Moon Lake and Alishan Mountain, two popular destinations in Taiwan. The University was officially founded in 1992 as Transworld Junior College of Commerce, a commerce-based junior college. It was officially upgraded to a four-year institute in 2000 and changed its name to Transworld Institute of Technology. On August 1, 2010, Transworld Institute of Technology is approved by the Ministry of Education as TransWorld University. In 2011, TransWorld University is honored with NT$60 million in â??Teaching Excellence Awardsâ? from Taiwan's Ministry of Education (MOE). In 2013, TransWorld University is granted NT$45 million from MOE for the 2nd consecutive time. TWU has grown rapidly in its short history from a total of 750 students and 7 academic departments during its first semester to about 6,000 students and 14 departments and 5 graduate institutes today.

ï® 1989
Invited by Dr. Wen-Tsu Hsu, former Yunlin County Mayor, Dr. Rongzhao Guo moved the location of â??TransWorld Junior College of Commerceâ? to Douliu City, Yunlin County.
ï® 1991
The Board of Directors elected Ms. Su-Jen Lin as the first Board Chair and defined the school motto as: â??Cherish Honesty, Practice Integrity.â?Â
ï® 1993
Approved by the Ministry of Education, the night division in-service classes were established with 133 new students.
ï® 1995
The Board of Directors appointed Dr. Shin Sheng Lai as the third President of TransWorld Junior College of Commerce.
President Dr. Shu-Hsiang Hsu defined three pillars as: â??Wisdom, Innovation, and Competition.â?ÂThe Board of Directors appointed Mr. Kun Ming Wu as the third Board Chair.
ï® 1999
Evaluated by the Ministry of Education, all 8 departments received the first-class appraisement.Held a ground-breaking ceremony for the 30-hectare Jiadong campus and started the construction of Cun Cheng Hall, student dormitories, and cafeterias.
ï® 2003
Approved by the Ministry of Education, the Graduate Institute of Strategic Management of Small & Medium Enterprise,Department of Biotechnology(Master) and Department of Styling and Cosmetology was established. Started the construction of the Faculty Dormitory on Jiadong Campus and expanded the employment of overseas scholars to teach at TransWorld.
ï® 2005
Approved by the Ministry of Education, the Department of Product Design was established.
TransWorld Nursery School, the first affiliated nursery school in Yunlin County, was established.
Eleven Indonesian international students enrolled.
Started constructions of Chuang Yi Hall on Jiadong Campus.
ï® 2008
Ting Tung Te Memorial Library opened.
The faculties and students from the Department of Fashion Styling went to the US for the â??OMC Hairwork, World Championship of Beautyâ? competition and won two gold and one bronze medals.
The Department of Styling and Cosmetology won the â??Glory of Technological and Vocational Educationâ? from the Ministry of Education for the third time in a row.
After being evaluated by the Ministry of Education, the administrative sections and 8 professional departments received the first-class appraisement.

Honored with NT$60 million in "Teaching Excellence Awards" from Taiwan's Ministry of Education.
Granted with "Outstanding Award of Technological and Vocational Education" from Taiwan's Ministry of Education.
Earned the title for â??First Volunteer University of Taiwanâ? from Taiwan's Ministry of Education.
Rated 5th in Internationalization Index among Taiwanâ??s Universities and Colleges for Undergraduate Programs, surveyed by the Office of Quality Assurance and Audit, Tamkang University.

Approved by the Ministry of Education, the Department of Culinary Arts was established.
2 teachers leading 30 students embarked on their exchange programs in Woosong University in South Korea and Huachiew Chalermprakiet University in Thailand, respectively, during summer vacation.
Chinese Language Center opened in 2012. The Center aims to provide degree-seeking international students with professional Chinese language & Taiwanese/ culture immersion courses during their first academic year.
Was ranked in 9th Place in Total Number of Enrolled International Students in the Category of Universities of Science and Technology Nationwide, and was Top 5 among private-run counterparts, according to the statistics compiled by Taiwanâ??s Ministry of Education.
